On Saturday June 5th the American Radio Relay League, ARRL, held the annual field day event. Field day is observed every year, on the fourth weekend in June, as a contest and training exercise for all amateur radio operators in emergency communications. Amateurs, or hams as they’re called, all over the United States and Canada get together with their clubs, groups and friends to operate from remote locations utilizing emergency antennas and power. The Young County Amateur Radio Club set up the county emergency communications trailer on the Graham downtown square on Saturday morning. The event was open to the public and several visitors dropped by to get a tour of the setup.
